| Project A.W.A.R.E. stands for
Aquatic World Awareness, Responsibility and Education, and is the
environmental-educational umbrella for PADI and PADI professionals worldwide. Project
A.W.A.R.E. programs have included beach cleanups, environmental presentations, research
and other efforts to help preserve and protect the underwater world. We care for the reefs...
We constantly remind all our valued guests that the future of our reefs is in their hands.
We ask that divers do not touch, remove, damage or in any way
molest any of the corals and aquatic life.
We care for the turtles...
The Centre is designed so that the buffer area of vegetation on the beach front is
conserved. This means that erosion is minimised and the turtles nesting area is not
disturbed.
We care for the forest...
Sipadan Island supports a lush tropical rainforest through our own desalination plants.
After our use, this water is added to the island's reservoir, aiding the upkeep of the
forest.
Our fresh water is a precious resource We ask all our guests
to be environmentally-conscious and to conserve water at all times.
We care for the birds....
Sipadan Island is a bird sanctuary. It is home to a number of birds and a few migratory
species as well. All of our electrical power is generated by three diesel-driven
generators, which are housed in a soundproof building. The exhaust pipes run underground
in scrubbers, reducing noise and smoke pollution by as much as 75%.
We care for you...
We care for our valued guests, so that they will enjoy their stay and return to visit us
again....
