PADI Assistant Instructor Course

The PADI Assistant Instructor Course is a program designed to provide qualified PADI Divemaster with additional training as Instructional Assistants. During his experience in the course, the candidate will learn, through practical application and hands on experience, how some of the most important aspects of PADI programs function. Once certified PADI Assistant Instructors are qualified to independently teach and certify PADI Skin Divers. Assistant Instructors are not authorised to teach and/or conduct Scuba Diving or evaluate Open Water Scuba skills independently of a Certified PADI Instructor.

Goals 

• Provide the candidate with practical experience in how all phases of PADI entry-level diver training are organised and conducted.
• Provide the candidate with practical experience in how significant factions of PADI Continuing Education are organised and conducted.
• Further develop the candidate’s ability as an instructional assistant by providing supervised experience working with actual student divers.
• Provide the candidate with the opportunity to develop instructional assistant skills through teaching limited segments of classroom, confined and open-water training sessions to actual student divers.
• Familiarise the candidates with the administration/certification procedures used in conducting PADI sanctioned courses.
• Encourage the candidates to seek further training and become a qualified PADI Instructor.

Prerequisites

• Certification: PADI Divemaster or equivalent
• Minimum age: 18 years
• Fill in Medical History Form and sign Liability Release (Waiver) and Express Assumption of Risk Form
• Be in good physical condition for diving and submit a medical statement for a diving medical examination conducted within the past year. The form is to be signed by a licensed physician and is to state that the candidate is fit for diving
