PADI Divemaster Course

Divemaster training is the first leadership level in the PADI progression. It is a course designed to train qualified individuals as supervisory personnel. The Divemaster may oversee general diving activities or serve as an underwater guide. The Divemaster may also fulfill important duties as an instructional assistant and may conduct PADI Environmental Orientation dives.

Goals

• Enable the candidate to organise, conduct and supervise recreational diving activities, both land and boat based.
• Enable the candidate to effectively act as an instructional assistant to teaching status PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (or higher).
• Develop the theoretical diving knowledge of candidates to a level sufficient to become an instructor.
• Encourage and prepare candidates for instructor level training.

Course Schedule

Min 2 weeks with option A. Internship (option B) may take longer to complete.

Prerequisites

• Certification: PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent, and PADI Rescue Diver or equivalent
• Minimum age: 18 years
• Fill in Medical History Form and sign Liability Release (Waiver) and Express Assumption of Risk Form
• Submit proof of CPR and First Aid training within the past three years
• Have completed at least 20 logged dives (documented in bearer’s log book)
• Be in good physical condition for diving and submit a medical statement for a diving medical examination conducted within the past year. The form is to be signed by a licensed physician and is to state that the candidate is fit for diving
